On Tuesday (18 August), Avibras Aeroco received an official visit from the Head of Department of Aerospace Science and Technology (DCTA), General Mauro Bellintani. The delegation also included the Lieutenant General Eric Breviglieri, Vice-Director of DCTA; Major General Engineer, Fernando Benitez Leal, Head of the Technical Subdivision of DCTA and Colonel (Ret.) José Antonio Botture Júnior, Head of the Institutional Relations Advisory.
The officials were given a tour of the company’s production and technological capabilities, with particular emphasis on the S50 solid rocket motor, the main propulsion system for the Microsatellite Launch Vehicle (VLM-1). The S50 is the largest solid rocket motor ever manufactured in Brazil, with 12 tonnes of solid propellant and innovative technologies for the Brazilian Space Programme, such as the use of carbon fibre in the motor casing, which makes it lighter and more efficient.
The Microsatellite Launch Vehicle (VLM-1) is a Strategic Project of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), developed in partnership with the German Aerospace Centre.
During the visit, the progress of projects currently under development and the prospects for future initiatives in the defence and space sectors were also discussed. Avibras Aeroco would like to thank the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) for the visit and reaffirms its long-standing partnership with the organisation.
