ASTROS System reinforces the prominence of Brazilian artillery at an international event

The missiles and rockets of the ASTROS System – the Tactical Cruise Missile (MTC) and the Tactical Ballistic Missile (MTB) – developed by Avibras Aeroco, took centre stage on Tuesday, 19 May, during Future Artillery 2026, held in London. The products were presented by Brigadier General (Ret.) Moisés da Paixão Júnior, Manager of the Brazilian Army’s (EB) Field Artillery Sub-programme, during the lecture “Modernisation of the Brazilian Army’s Artillery for a multi-domain future”.

General Paixão presented the new structure of the Army’s ASTROS-FOGOS Strategic Programme and its sub-programmes focused on the development and modernisation of the EB’s artillery capabilities, namely: Field Missile and Rocket Artillery, Field Artillery (guns), and Air Defence.

In his presentation, the general highlighted the following priorities for Brazilian artillery: increasing the mobility and range of systems, digitising fire control, integrating combat elements into networks, and strengthening the national defence industrial base. According to him, these advances contribute to the consolidation of an increasingly modern, reliable, and interoperable artillery force, underpinned by advanced technological capabilities, expertise in the equipment used, and efficient support and maintenance systems.

Held from 19 to 21 May, the conference brings together military leaders, industry representatives, and defence sector experts to discuss the capabilities and technologies shaping the future of artillery on the international stage.

Sales Engineering & Product Strategy Manager Marcos Stephany and Systems Engineering Manager Almir Lemos are representing Avibras Aeroco at the conference, helping to strengthen the presence of the Brazilian defence industry at one of the sector’s leading international forums.
